My name is Brantley Evans III, and I’m from Columbia, South Carolina. I’m in my final semester at Temple University, pursuing a Bachelor of Science in Event & Entertainment Management from the School of Sport, Tourism, and Hospitality Management. I grew up as a competitive swimmer and lacrosse player, which was a major part of my life until I was introduced to theater. After my first show, I never stopped. Now, I work part-time as an actor, and since moving to Philadelphia, I’ve had the opportunity to develop my craft and perform professionally throughout the city and in New Jersey. Being a performer definitely influenced my interest in managing and putting on events. This gateway allowed me to use things I learned in grade school and apply it to my classes and further develop my interest in this industry.
Being part of Temple's STHM program has helped me discover my passion for hospitality and events, inspiring me to further my education at Villanova University. This fall, I will pursue a Master’s in Human Resource Development with the goal of enhancing workplace culture and improving employee experiences within the event and hospitality industry. The hospitality industry is one of the most profitable sectors, and nearly everyone participates in it—whether through lodging, food and beverage, events, or vacations. Many professionals in this field are driven by a passion for providing exceptional customer service. However, despite its significance, the industry faces some of the lowest employee retention rates due to factors such as company culture, compensation, and treatment. My goal is to explore solutions that improve retention by fostering better support systems for employees. By addressing these challenges, I hope to contribute to a stronger, more sustainable workforce that will allow the hospitality industry to continue thriving.
